Meeting notes:

AB2ZA: Vojtech brought in his highly-modifed ATS-3B, with some additional modifications. He also brought his terrific little boy, Jan, to the meeting. There was a discussion of batteries for backpacking use.

N2MPM: Brian participated in the Simulated Emergency Test (SET) and gave a briefing on the event. He also updated us on the condition of Keith Sproul, WU2Z, who was critically injured in a ballooning accident in Albuquerque, NM, at the annual International Balloon Festival in early October. Keith and his twin brother, Mark, KB2ICI, are the authors of WinAPRS & MacAPRS, which many of us for a myriad of applications.

N2GJ: Finishing up the furniture project for N2ARC with my 90 year old father-in-law. Briefed the group on the activities surrounding the anniversary of the "War of the Worlds" broadcast by Orson Welles, and the special event station W0W fielded by the David Sarnoff Radio Club (N2RE).

W2BVH: Lenny attended the Mid Atlantic States VHF Conference held on September 27, 2008 in Blue Bell, PA. He described this as a "Don't Miss It" event for people interested in all things VHF-UHF and above.

WA1CZG: Alan has SDR (Software Defined Radio) working with his Kenwood TS-2000 to bring out the IF (10 MHz) and he's using Ham Radio Deluxe to run the rig. He also agreed to take a look at my busted Astron 20A power supply (which he called me about this week to say I need a new interface board, but the pass transistors appear to be OK). Thanks, Alan!

Additions/corrections welcome!

Respectfully submitted, 73,
